Patricia K. Johns

  Patricia K. Johns, 75 of Schuylkill Haven, was called home to join the Lord in the kingdom of heaven Friday evening at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Schuylkill Haven.

  She was born February 2, 1943 in Baltimore MD, a daughter of the late Elwood Clayton and M. Jean Baxter Kimmel, the family relocated to Minersville and finally Schuylkill Haven.

  She was a 1960 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, School of Interior Design, and a 2008 Valedictorian of Schuylkill Institute of Business and Technology. 

  Patricia was employed by Schuylkill County Crippled Children prior to retiring. 

  Patricia was a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven where she was very active in church activities, such as Director of Day Care, Church Council where she served as President, the church’s Bell Choir and assisted with the children’s Choir. She was involved with Girl Scout’s for 60 years where she served as Scout Leader, Girl Scout Happy Days day camp director for 30 years and cookie chairwoman.

  Patricia was known as “Mom” to hundreds of children. She was selfless, caring and never said no to someone in need.

  She was preceded in death by her husband Allen Johns, Sr; on July 21, 2001; Surviving are her children, Jeannie Johns, Schuylkill Haven; Clayton Johns and his wife Lena, Schuylkill Haven; Allen Johns, Jr., and his wife Pam, Auburn; Arthur Johns, Pottsville: 2 grandsons, Allen and Brandon Johns; 3 great-granddaughters; a sister, Barbara Meade, Schuylkill Haven; 1 nephew, a god-daughter, Elizabeth.

  Service of remembrance will be held Saturday at 11AM from Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. David R. Rowe officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 10AM until the time of services. The family would prefer remembrance in the form of contribution made to Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 252 Dock St, Schuylkill Haven PA, 17972.
