Robert E. “Bob” Jones, 66 of Lake Wynonah, died Saturday at home. He was born on April 3, 1951 in St. Clair son of the late Emlyn and Florence Leiby Jones. Bob grew up in the Mill Creek area. Bob graduated from St. Clair High School in 1969, where during his high school day was filled with sports, dances and many good friends. Bob was also a 1973 graduate of Susquehanna University. Bob also received his Master’s Degree from the University of Scranton. After college and between degrees, there was a lot of travel to visit family and friend out west. Bob settled down a bit to be a partner in counseling firm in Pottsville with Ellen Platt. He was instrumental in starting the first Home Health Hospice Agency in Schuylkill County, the first hospital owned ambulance service and the first Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation facility known as Schuylkill Rehab, while working at the former Pottsville Hospital and Warne Clinic. He then moved on to work at the former Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center where he was Director of Planning and Marketing and was instrumental in recruiting numerous family physicians to the underserved Schuylkill County. Many of those physicians are practicing today. In 1992 Bob opened R.E. Jones and Associates and the first regional preferred provider network in Schuylkill Count, the Blue Ridge Health Network. Over the next 20 years, Bob assisted numerous county employers and their employee’s lower healthcare costs and continue to receive the quality of care they expected. In September 2007, on a beach in Key West, Bob married his soul mate and life partner, Lisa Laudeman Jones. In addition to his wife he survived by a brother, David Jones, Boise ID; 3 nephews, Kyle, Brett, and Brandon Jones; 2 great-nephews, Henry and Sampson; 3 god-children, Katherine, Ella, and Jackson Houtz, children of Jason and Allison Cody Houtz, all of Lewisburg; a sister-in-law Erika Laudeman, Sydney, Australia. For those who knew Bob, we will always, admire and love his energy, the way he shared his gift for living with his family and friends, the integrity he brought to his work, they joy he found in the outdoors and the best husband and gal could wish for. To all of Bob’s family and friends, thank you for being part of his life. You have all been such as big component of Bob’s life, and all of you, in your very special ways and your particular interactions with him, have helped to make him the person he was.
