Kathleen A. O'Connor Hampford

  Kathleen A. O’Connor Hampford, R.N., 88, of Pottsville, died Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East Norwegian St.

  She was born April 13, 1929 in Pottsville, daughter of the late Louis E. and Anna C. Brennan O’Connor.

  Kathleen was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School, a 1949 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, with a diploma in Nursing and a 1984 graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a B.S. in Nursing.

  Prior to retiring, she was employed as a Registered Nurse for 46 years at the former Good Samaritan Hospital holding various nursing management positions.

  Kathleen was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

  She was preceded in death by her husband James J. Hampford, Jr., in 1972; a brother, Vincent O’Connor; 2 sisters, Jean O’Connor and Anne O’Connor Jenkins. Surviving are 5 children, James J. Hampford, III and his wife Diane, Pottsville: Edward “Ned” Hampford and his wife Tammie, Pottsville; Kathleen Hampford, Pottsville; Karen Hampford, Yonker, NY, and Betsy H. Taylor, Harrisburg; a sister, Clare O'Connor Schneider, Pottsville; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.

  A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the convenience of the family from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to Hillside SPCA, P.O. 233 Pottsville PA, 17901. Interment will be private at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
