John J. Sullivan, 80 of Pottsville, formerly of St. Clair, died Tuesday afternoon at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.
He was born April 8, 1937 in Pottsville son of the late Eugene Sullivan and Stephanie Wapinsky Zagar.
He was a graduate of Nativity BVM High School.
He was employed by the former Acme Markets in Pottsville for 28 years prior to retiring.
John was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair, the former St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair and the Rosary Confraternity of the church, West End Hose Fire Co., Pottsville, and a social member of the Pottsville Catholic Veteran Post #1051.
He was preceded in death by a step father, Nicholas Zagar. Surviving are his sister, Regina Hertz, St. Clair; a brother, James Sullivan, Cumbola; Nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:30 A.M. from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair, with Msgr. William F. Glosser as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to call from 10-11A.M. Friday at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to St. Clare of Assisi Memorial Fund, 250 E. Hancock St., St. Clair PA, 17970. Interment will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
