Zane P. Rist

  Zane P. Rist, 73 of Pottsville died Friday at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, DE.

  He was born September 28, 1943 in Pottsville son of the late Grace Potts Rist.

  He was a 1961 Graduate of Pottsville High School.

  He was employed by the Pottsville Area School District as Transportation Supervisor prior to retiring in 2005, where he later became a bus instructor on a part-time basis.

  Zane was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, where he was chairman of the van committee, Pulaski Lodge #216 F&AM, Pottsville, Valley of Bloomsburg AASR where he was a 32nd Degree Mason and scheduled to receive the AASR Meritorious Service Award on July 8. A member and past Grand Tall Cedar of Schuylkill Forest #50, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and assistant chairman of the annual Schuylkill Christmas Gala, Pottsville. Zane was also a life-long member of Yorkville Hose Co., Pottsville, former member of the former Pottsville EMS where he was one of the first EMT’s in Pottsville and later taught First Aid and CPR. 

Zane was an avid ham radio operator, model train enthusiast and well known photographer throughout his life, where he enjoyed taking pictures of family, friends, and trains, as well as at events for Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley of Bloomsburg AASR, Yorkville Hose Fire Co., and the City of Pottsville Fire Department, where he was the official photographer for these organizations.

  Zane is survived by his wife of 47 years Linda Lord Rist; a daughter Courtney Rodgers and her husband Brett, Shermans Dale; 2 grandchildren, Ainsley and Dean Rodgers: Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

  A memorial service celebrating the life of Zane will be held Wednesday, July 12, at 11A.M. from Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, with Rev. Harold L. Hand, Jr. and Rev. Chris Rothharpt officiating. Family and friends are invited to a visitation Tuesday, July 11 at the church from 6-8P.M. and again from 10AM. until the time of services Wednesday. A short Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7P.M. Tuesday, July 11 at the church. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W. Arch St. Pottsville, PA 17901 or to Yorkville Hose Fire Company, W. Norwegian St. & S. 20th St, Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
