Benjamin F. Shollenberger

January 13, 1931 — March 11, 2017

  Benjamin F. Shollenberger, 86 of Pottsville, died Saturday morning at home.   He was born January 13, 1931 in Pottsville son of the late Elmer and Ruth Feeman Shollenberger.   He was a 1949 Graduate of Pottsville High School where he was part of the State Championship Gymnastics Team.   He was a Navy veteran having served during the Korean War.   He was co-owner of Shollenberger & McGuigan.   Ben was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville where he served as an usher, Pottsville Lions Club and was an inductee of the Pottsville Area High School All Sport Hall of Fame.   He was preceded in death by an infant son, John Shollenberger; two half sisters, Mildred Artz and Helen Barrett: Surviving are his wife of 60 years Delores Spontak Shollenberger; 2 sons, Benjamin Shollenberger and his wife Anne, Pottsville; David Shollenberger and his wife Mary Jo, Palo Alto; 2 grandchildren, Keith and Elizabeth Shollenberger: a sister, Lois Kanter and her husband Charles; and a brother, Thomas and his wife Linda, all of Schuylkill Haven: Nieces and Nephews.   Service of Remembrance will be held Thursday at 10:30A.M. from Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville with Rev. Chris Rothharpt officiating. Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30A.M until the time of services at the church. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W. Arch St. Pottsville PA, 17901. Inurnment with military honors will be at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. James E.
