Rita A. Workman

  Rita A. Workman, 98 of Orwigsburg, died Tuesday at home.

  She was born September 4, 1918 in Palo Alto, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Connors Lynagh.

  She was a graduate of St. Stephen High School, Port Carbon.

  Rita was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, the Mother’s Club, Chillum, MD., the Women’s Club of Pottsville, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She volunteered at St. John the Baptist Grade School Chillum, MD., the Children’s Hospital of Washington, D.C., the former Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville, where she served as Eucharistic Minister, the former Pottsville Hospital and Warne Clinic, Pottsville, and the Blood Mobile in Pottsville.

  Rita was a homemaker most of her life who loved and cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

  She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph L. Workman; a son, Gerald Workman: a sister, Marie Whalen; 3 brothers, Joseph, Thomas and Francis Lynagh. Surviving are a daughter, Beth Travis and her husband Jack, Orwigsburg; a son, Bill Workman, Fredrick, MD: 5 grandchildren, Tracey, Sean, Noelle, Bobby and Chris; 2 great-grandchildren, Emily and Liam: Nieces and nephews.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11A.M. from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville with her nephew Rev. Joseph T. Whalen, Jr. as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to call at the church from 10A.M. until the time of mass. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to St. Patrick Memorial Fund. 319 Mahantongo St. Pottsville PA, 17901. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville is in charge of arrangements.
