Frederick E. “Freddy” Lewis, 79 of Allentown, formerly of Pottsville died Friday night at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.
He was born March 12, 1937 in Pottsville, son of the late Frederick W. Lewis and Ruth T. Eberle Lewis Archibald.
He was a 1956 graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy where he played varsity football and wrestling. He attended Salisbury Preparatory School and Elizabethtown College.
He was employed by Pennsylvania Manufactures Insurance Company for 13 years before joining PP&L as Senior Claims Representative prior to retiring in 2000.
Freddy was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Pottsville, a lifelong member of Good Intent Fire Company where he served as chief engineer, City of Pottsville Board of Fire Trustees. He also coached Pottsville Midget Football League winning several championships.
Surviving are his wife with whom he would have celebrated 17 year of marriage with on Valentine’s Day, Audrey Odenheimer Lewis, Allentown; a daughter Deborah J. Bohlinger, and her husband Steven H. Westfield, N.J.; a son Scott F. Lewis and his wife Jamie, Pahrump NV: 6 grandchildren: a sister Jane Finn, Cherry Hill, N.J.: nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating the life of Freddy will be held at the Convenience of the family at the Chapel of Resurrection at Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to call from 7-9P.M. Thursday at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to Good Intent Fire Co. 7 N. 2nd St. Pottsville PA, 17901. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville.
