John J. "Jack" Callahan, Sr. 93 of Pottsville died Saturday at Golden Living Center-York Terrace, Pottsville.
He was born May 25, 1922 in Hecksherville son of the late Bart and Nellie Moran Callahan.
He attended St. Kieran’s grade school and Cass Twp High School.
He was an Army veteran having served during World War II.
He was employed by the former Alcoa and Pottsville Internist Association prior to retiring.
Jack was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, Catholic War Veteran Post #1051 and a social member of Human Fire Co., Pottsville.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Ellen Callahan. Surviving are his wife of 68 years Anne Thomas Callahan, Pottsville; 3 daughters, Nancy Hanson and her husband Patrick, Milltown, NJ; Jacqueline Kimmel and her husband David, Schuylkill Haven; Sara Jane Givler and her husband George, Ephrata: a son John J. Callahan, Jr. and his wife Donna, Pottsville: 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren: 3 sisters, Anna Rountree, Philadelphia; LaVerne Mollish Kovac, Forestville, MD; and Patricia Muldowney, Liverpool, NY: Many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Jack's 94th Birthday at 11A.M Wednesday from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and Friends are invited to call from 9:30A.M. until the time of mass. Memorial Contributions can be made to Golden Living Activities Program 2401, W. Market St., Pottsville PA, 17901. Interment with military honors will at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.
