Gladys Mae Fernsler, 66 of Pottsville, returned home to the lord Saturday, at Golden Living Center-York Terrace, Pottsville. She was born May 13, 1949 in Norristown daughter of the late Theodore and Gladys Henry Berry. She was a graduate of Schwanksville High School and Reading Area Community College with an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. Gladys spent most of her working years as a stay at home mom and babysitting many children in the area. She worked at various Day care centers in the area. She was actively involved at the Minersville United Methodist Church, Minersville. She also did volunteer work at the former Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville and various schools in Virginia and California. Besides her grandkids the thing she was most proud of was being a Navy Chief's wife, to her husband, Pastor Howard Fernsler, Pottsville. Gladys enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing and making cloths for her numerous American Girl Doll. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Wannamaker and her brother, Raymond Berry. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter Kathleen Holley, Tremont; and her son Steven Fernsler and his wife Marisa, Pottsville: a sister, Janet Bogert, Dallas TX; a brother, William Berry, Douglasville: 5 grandchildren, Gabby Holley, Seltzer; and Tyler Holley, Katelynn, Shane and Kelsey Hranchock all of Pottsville: Nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday at 11:30 A.M. at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville with the Pastor Nancy Gehres officiating. Family and friends are invited to call from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to Minersville United Methodist Church, 2nd and Carbon St. Minersville PA, 17954.
