Helen Margaretta Williams Bartholomew, 91, formerly of Pottsville, died Wednesday, in Myerstown. She was born March 9, 1924 in Pottsville, daughter of the late Griffith H. and Sarah Jane Moser Williams. She was a 1942 graduate of Pottsville High School and worked over forty years in the garment industry until her retirement. She served as her husband's bookkeeper and notary for P&J Used Cars, Yorkville in the late 1940's and early 1950's. She was active in the Evangelical United Methodist Church of Pottsville where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society, served as a substitute Sunday school teacher for the women's Sunday school class and was for a time the recording secretary to the church board. She was recently preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Paul J. Bartholomew on January 27, 2015. Helen was one of five children. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant brothers; her older sister Henrietta Williams Tesno, sister-in-law Violet Williams; brothers and sisters-in-law, George F., Ann, Charles F., Marie, Harold J., James J., and Kathryn A. Bartholomew. She is survived by two children; a son, Paul D. Bartholomew of Wyomissing: a daughter, Hedy Bartholomew Stump wife of Carl E. Stump, Lebanon, and one special niece, Helene (nee Tesno, Roscoe) McLaughlin and her husband Terry of Mar-Lin,. Mrs. McLaughlin previously lived with her aunt and her extended family while growing up and she provided support to her aunt in her golden years. Mrs. Bartholomew is also survived by one granddaughter, Bridget Stump Frey, her husband Christopher and three great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Paige and Gabriel Frey all of Cleona. Mrs. Bartholomew is also survived by one brother Raymond G. Williams, Elizabethville, PA, and sisters and brothers-in-law: Rita M. Foley, Theresa T. Sencak, Frances and Charles Lorenz, Carl J. Bartholomew all of Pottsville; Janet Whitaker, Norristown; Janet Weiss Bartholomew, West Chester and three generations of nieces and nephews. A short service will be held Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, with the Pastor Gregory Hafer officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
