Joseph W. Connell

Joseph W. Connell, 50 of Terra Alta, WV, formerly of Pottsville died Wednesday at Hopemont Hospital, Terra Alta. He was born October 30, 1964 in Pottsville son of Mary Lesko Connell, Pottsville and the late George F. Connell. He was a graduate of Nativity BVM High School and Penn State University. He then served in the Army Reserves for a short period of time. He worked for numerous telecommunication firms throughout his life. Joe was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Connell and a sister Mary Jane "M.J." Connell. Surviving in addition to his mother are 2 brothers, George R. Connell and his wife Sharon, Frederick, MD, James Connell and his wife Doi, Phoenix, AR: 5 sisters, Janet Basch, and her husband Marty, Center Conway, NH; Terri Johnson, and her husband Van, Tucker, GA; Dr. Bernie Connel-Stahl, and her husband Randy, Fort Collins, CO, Karen Rhoad, and her husband Steve, Hummelstown, and Susie Zaller, Pottsville: nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. David J. Loeper as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 A.M. until the time of mass. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contribution made to St. John Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo St. Pottsville PA, 17901. Interment will be in St. John No.2 Cemetery, Pottsville.
