Donald L. "Doc" Bound, 90 of Pottsville died Monday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson St. He was born October 29, 1923 in Pottsville son of the late John A. and Elva Hodgers Bound. He attended Pottsville High School and served in the Navy during World War II where he held the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Doc worked for St. Clair Coal Company, Hummel's and Nathan Furniture Stores, and ended his career with Argo Mills. Doc was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, where he was a member of the Men's Choir, the Barney's and St. John's Beneficiray's. He was also a member of the Pottsville Barbershop Quartet, 6 County Fireman's Association, and a 45 year member of West End Hose Company, Pottsville where he served as assistant Chief twice and served on the first ambulance. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Dorothy M. "Dot" Henry on November 25, 2013: 3 brothers, Albert Eugene, Earl and Wilbur; 2 sisters, Corinne Ansbach Stoker, and Edith Falls. Surviving are a son, Jack Bound and his wife Mary, Pottsville; a daughter, Donna Bound-Steidle, Pottsville: 5 grandchildren, Shannon Bound and her husband Tim May, Ill; Farrah Benart and her husband Kevin, Pottsville; Megan Roberts and her husband Christian, Pottsville; Tim Steidle and his companion Meredith Hannan, Pottsville; and Joe Steidle and his companion Angela Novack, Pottsville: 6 great-grandchildren Liam Benart, Dominic, Jordan, and Devin Steidle, Eli and Jack Killian: 2 nephews Kerry Ansbach and his wife Barbara, and Keith Ansbach all of Pottsville. Memorial Mass for both Doc and Dot will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Monday October 6th at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. David J. Loeper as celebrant. Family and friends are invited call from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass at the church. Interment with military honors for Doc will at St. John No 2. Cemetery, Pottsville.
