Joan M. Burns

Joan M. Burns, 87, of Pottsville died Friday night at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson St. She was born November 8, 1926 in Pottsville daughter of the late Edward and Maude McGolder Frank. She was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School and Penn State University with a degree in education. She was employed by Schuylkill County Child Development at the Duncott Day Care, prior to retiring. Joan was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph L. Burns, in 1975; a brother, Edward Frank; and a sisters, Dot Ginther. Surviving are four children, Claire Kasper and her husband Pat, Williamstown; Joseph R. Burns and his wife Helen, Pottsville; Mary Jane Burns, Pottsville; and Kathleen Pauly and her husband Joseph, Pottsville: a brother, Jerry Frank, Pottsville: 11 beautiful grandchildren and 11 beautiful great-grandchildren: nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 A.M. St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday morning from 9:00A.M.-10:30A.M. at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in form of contributions made to St. Patrick Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.
