Doris M. Wolfgang, 92, of Mechanicsville, died Thursday at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville. She was born January 23, 1922 in Cressona, daughter of the late Arthur C. and Eva Payne Conrad. She moved to Mechanicsville with her parents in a horse-drawn wagon at the age of six weeks and remained a life-long resident of the borough. She attended Mechanicsville public school and was a 1940 graduate of Port Carbon Soldiers Memorial High School. She worked in the payroll department for 30 years, at the former Alcoa Aluminum, Cressona, prior to retiring in 1975. Doris was of Methodist faith and was a member of Alcoa 25 year club. She enjoyed traveling and wintered for many years in Port Orange, Fl where she and her husband owned a home. She was preceded by her husband Elmer Wolfgang, 1986: a sister, Vera Conrad, 1984: and a brother, LaMar Conrad, 1985: a stepson Jerry Wolfgang, 1993. Surviving are a stepdaughter, Florence "Flo" Kelly Girardville; a nephew, Dean Conrad, Mechanicsville: a niece, Barbara Conrad, San Antonio, TX: three step-grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews. Services and Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
