A. Matthew Dudish, 65, of Pottsville died peacefully Thursday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He was born January 21, 1949 in Pottsville son of the late Andrew M. and Angeline Lascala Dudish. He was raised and lived the remainder of his life in Pottsville, where he met the love of his life, Ann. They married on March, 5, 1983 and shared 31 years of wedded bliss. He was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School and Kutztown University with a B.A. in Business and Sociology. He was currently owner and sole proprietor of Anthracite Abstract Company, Pottsville. Matt was elected Schuylkill County Recorder of Deeds in November of 1999. He took office on January 2, 2000 and was re-elected for 3 more terms and held the position until his death. Matt dedicated his life to serving his community and helping his friends and family. Always the public servant, Matt was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, Good Intent Fire Company, Pottsville, St. Clair Fish and Game, Pottsville Lions Club where he was Past-President, chairman of the Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven/Orwigsburg EMS, Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce where he was a past board member, and SAM board member, Angel Member of the Hawk Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America where he very proudly earned his Eagle Scout in his youth. He was also past board member of the Pottsville Housing Authority, past chairman of the Pottsville Zoning Hearing Board, and past board member of the former Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Foundation Board. He also donated his time and efforts to many fundraising events throughout Schuylkill County. He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles. Surviving in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Amanda Dudish-Black and her husband Mark, Austin TX; a son, Drew Dudish, Fairchild Airbase, WA: 2 sisters, Sandi Griesbaum, and her husband Gerry, Pottsville; and Karen Gelting and her husband Jeff, Deer Lake: a sister-in-law Rita Sponenburg, and a brother-in-law Gerard Klema, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Matt enjoyed traveling to visit his children, spending holidays with his family and hosting his friends. Matt was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and role model. He put everyone before himself and took care of many - always helping someone in need. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at Noon at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to call from 9:00A.M. until time of Mass. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions be made to Clyde F. Barker Penn Transplant House, 3940 Spruce St. Philadelphia, PA 19104. Interment will be Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
