Forlendia Ophelia Roberts, 88, of Luther Ridge Pottsville, died Friday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian St. She was born September 9, 1925 in Aiken, South Carolina, daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Ranford Williamson. She grew up in Augusta, Georgia before moving to New York, where she resided in South Ozone Park and Springfield Gardens, Queens. She then moved to Auburn, in 2000 and later to Pottsville in 2013. Forlendia worked for Fairchild Camera during World War II making camera sites for bombers. She then worked as a Nurse's Aide for Fairview Nursing Home, Queens, New York prior to retiring. Forlenida loved to read biographies and history books. She also enjoyed studying the Bible. She was preceded in death by her husband Nathaniel J. Roberts; a brother, Charles Williamson; 3 sisters, Lucille Roberts, Francis Clark, and Sylvia Williamson. Surviving are her son, Glenn C. Roberts and his wife Cherie, Pottsville; 5 grandchildren, Glenn Anthony Roberts, and his wife Rhonda, Sharrise Dolphus and her husband Troy, Nathaniel James Roberts, II and his wife Toneisha, Ranee Roberts, and Alexandra Fedeles Trexler and her husband Devin: 16 great-grandchildren, Jalina, Geona, Gina, Ray Von, Sharrise, Charlene, Tanya, Darren James, Nasir, Trinity, Mahogany, Destiny, Jada, James, Erika Lauren and Alyssa Grace; nieces and nephews. Services celebrating the life of Forlendia will be held Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, with the Rev. Sue Ketter officiating. Family and friends are invited to call from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services. The family would prefer remembrances in form of contributions made to Pottsville Free Public Library, 217 W. Market St. Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
