Rita M. Deatrich

Rita M. Deatrich, 87, of Palo Alto, died Wednesday at home. She was born August 27, 1927 in Port Carbon daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Dalton Goss. She was a graduate of St. Stephen High School and was an LPN at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Schuylkill Haven prior to retiring. Rita was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Deatrich in 1980; 3 brothers Charles, John and Frances Goss; and a sister, Mary Smith; Surviving are a son, John A. Deatrich and his wife, Kathy, Palo Alto; a daughter, Kathy Deatrich, Pottsville; 2 brothers, James Goss, TX; and Harold Goss, Port Carbon: 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Rita returned to rehab at Rest Haven after surgery at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Her family is very grateful for the level care at Hershey Medical Center and Rest Haven, so she could return home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church at the convenience of the family. The family would prefer remembrances in form of contributions made to Rest Haven Nursing Home Activities Dept., 401 University Drive, Schuylkill Haven PA, 17972. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
