Joseph L. Dusel, 84, of Pottsville died Saturday at Manor Care Health Services, Pottsville. He born was February 9, 1929 in Pottsville son of the late Albert and Catherine Sturn Dusel. He attended St. John grade school and was a 1947 graduate of Pottsville High School, where he was member of the National Honor Society and won the TKD and Torray awards. He was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954 and was stationed in San Francisco, CA and Norfolk, VA. His tour of duty as ETSN was on the USS Bottineau and the USS Briarius. He was a manager for 20 years with Moyer Electronics, Pottsville. He completed a study at Bell Hospital Systems in Cherry Hill, NJ on Nurse calls and TV systems and was employed by Good Samaritan Hospital as a Bio Medical Electronic Technician, prior to retiring in 1989. He also was owner of Electronics Unlimited. Joe was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. He was avid shopper and history buff, along with being an amateur Ham radio operator since 1947 and enjoyed traveling to his most favorite spot, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Albert and John; 4 sisters, Elizabeth, Martha, Alberta and Catherine. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Catherine McDonald, Pottsville; 3 sons, Joseph and his wife, Katsuyo, Vista CA; Martin and his wife, Maxine, Winter Haven, FL; David, Trout Run, PA: Six grandchildren, Joshua, Brian, Kayla, Michelle, Emi, and Hana Dusel; nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. David J. Loeper as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of mass. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. John No. 2 Cemetery, Pottsville. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
