Mary J. Piccioni

Mary J. Piccioni, 97, of Pottsville, died peacefully Tuesday, at Golden Living Center-York Terrace, Pottsville. She was born November 4, 1915 in Mar-Lin daughter of the late Alex and Antoinette Brilla Fanok and was a graduate of Branch Township High School. She lived in Broomall for 26 years, during which she was employed in the retail industry. Mary was a former member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and a current member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville, and St. Patrick Seniors. Mary was blessed with a caring and giving personality and was a joy to all who knew her. She loved to jar and to cook Ukrainian and Italian ethnic foods, which she generously shared with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry A. Piccioni, in 2001; a sister, Ann Fanok Mangum; a brother, Alex Fanok; two sisters-in-law, Issy Adams and Julia Moffitt. Surviving are her son, Harry N. Piccioni and his wife Barbara, Pottsville; a granddaughter, Stephanie Carlson; a great-granddaughter, Leah Carlson, both of West Chester, a sister-in-law, Mary V. Messina, Pottsville; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 A.M. Saturday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, with Rev. Jason F. Stokes as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 10:30A.M. until the time of Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in form of contributions made to St. Patrick Memorial fund, 319 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
