James J. Schreffler

James J. Schreffler, Jr., 73, of Pottsville, died Thursday afternoon at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian St.

He was born June 24, 1939 in Pottsville son of the late James J. Sr., and Dorothy Dreher Schreffler.

He was a 1957 graduate of Pottsville High School where he earned 4 letters in both football and track and participated in the East -West All-star Football game. He attended Elon College on a football scholarship prior to serving in the Marine Corp from 1961-1967.

He was president of General Heating and Plumbing.

He was a member of English Baptist Church, Minersville, and pipe fitter and plumber Union, Local 520. Jim was also an avid gun collector and outdoorsmen throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife the former Sarah "Sally" Duffy, in Nov of 2000. Surviving are three children, James J. Schreffler, III and his wife Geraldine, Brier City; Sandy L. Ferrari, and her husband Joseph, Gordon; and Scott Schreffler and his wife Adrienne, Pottsville: a brother, Thomas Schreffler and his wife Sandy, Orwigsburg: 3 sisters, Patricia Stoffey and her husband, Joseph, Pottsville; Dorothy Brennan, Pottsville; and Diane Parolli and her husband, William, Lewisburg: 6 grandchildren, Kayla, James IV, Samantha, Ryan, Dylan, and Taylor; Jim's beloved dog Barnson, nieces and nephews:

Services and Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Mount Peace Cemetery, Minersville. The family would prefer remembrances in form of contributions made to Hillside S.P.C.A. P.O. Box 233 Pottsville, PA 17901.
