Paul L. Dimmerling, Sr., 92, formerly of Providence Place, Pottsville died Tuesday night at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville. He was born January 26, 1919 in Pottsville son of the late William G. Sr., and Caroline Elison Dimmerling. He was graduate of Pottsville High School and served with the Army in the South Pacific during World War II attaining the rank of sergeant. Paul was employed by the former Miners National Bank in Pottsville for 44years retiring in 1983 as Executive Vice President and Cashier and was co-owner of the former Dimmerling's Variety Store, Pottsville. He later worked as a funeral attendant at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, St. Clair Old Timers Baseball Association, Walter Griffiths AMVETS Post 180, Catholic War Veterans Post 1051, both of Pottsville, Allen-Rogowicz Sports Hall of Fame, A Charter Member of the Schuylkill Chapter # 25 of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, Inc., and a life member of Yorkville Hose Company, Pottsville. Paul was also an inductee into the Pottsville Area High School all Sports Hall of Fame, for his ability on the basketball court. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Sally Dragna on May 20, 2005: 3 sisters, Kathryn Schuster and Barbara F. Dimmerling, Dorothy D. Barasha: 2 brothers, William G. Jr. and Charles E.: Surviving are 3 children, Kathryn D. Case and her husband J. Terry, Paul L. Jr., and his wife Joan Marie, Linda D. Humphrey and her husband James E., all of Pottsville: 6 grandchildren, Kelly D. Chapman, Kristyn M. Case, Kyle P. Dimmerling, Dr. Lindsay C. Trout, James B. and Todd J. Humphrey: 2 great-grandchildren, Landon J. Trout and Kylie J. Chapman, nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00A.M. Saturday from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. David J. Loeper as celebrant. Family and friends may call from 6:00P.M.-8:00P.M. Friday evening and from 10:00A.M.-11:00A.M. Saturday morning at the church. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to St. John Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo St. Pottsville PA, 17901. Interment with military honors will be at St. John No. 2 Cemetery, Pottsville. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
