Fern Dixon Engleman, 88, of Pottsville, died Friday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian St. She was born September 8, 1923 in Pottsville daughter of the late Clarence and Abigail Emerich Wallauer and was a graduate of Pottsville High School. She was employed by the former Bashore Knitting Mill, Schuylkill Haven and was last employed by the former Boltz Knitting Mill, Pottsville, prior to retiring. Fern was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Pottsville, a life member of the former Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 67, Pottsville and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in by her first husband Albert Dixon in 1955, and her second husband, Leroy Engleman in 1977: a sister, Louise Wallauer; 3 brothers, Francis, Edward, and Ray Wallauer. Surviving are a son, George "Skip" Dixon, Reading; 2 daughters, Cheryl Gudinas and her husband Ron, Minersville; and Christine "Teenie" Engleman, Pottsville: a brother Clarence Wallauer Jr., Pottsville: 2 grandchildren, Ronald Gudinas, II and Angela Gudinas. 1 great-granddaughter, Jada Gudinas: nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville with the Pastor James R. Fidler officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. and Tuesday from 9:00A.M. until the time of services. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 316 W. Market St. Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
