John A. Kilmurray, Sr, 86, of Mechanicsville, died Sunday at ManorCare Health Services, Pottsville. He was born October 22, 1924 in Branchdale son of the late Andrew and Edna Schock Kilmurray. He was a 1942 graduate of Pottsville High School and served in the Navy during World War II on the Destroyer Escort U.S.S. Lyman. He was employed by Reading Foundry & Supply for 39 years prior to retiring. John was a member of St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon, Walter Griffiths Amvets Post 180, Pottsville, and U.S.S. Lyman Association. He was also active in Railway Park Little League for 27 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian David Kilmurray: a daughter, Susan Marie Kilmurray: a brother, Andrew, Jr. and a sister, Dorothy Shaffer: Surviving are his wife, the former Ann T. Roth, to whom he was married for 61 years: a son, John A. Jr., Vacaville, CA: 2 sisters, Edna Frie, and Florence Dikun, both of Pottsville: 2 grandchildren, Erin Lull, and Kevin Kilmurray, both of California: 1 great-granddaughter, Vanessa Lull: Nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. from Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon with the Rev. David W. Karns officiating. Family and friends may call from 9:30 A.M.-10:30 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. The family would prefer remembrances in form of contributions made to St. Stephen Memorial Fund, 218 Valley St., Port Carbon, PA 17965. Interment with military honors will be at Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Pottsville.
