Julia A. Mazzuca, 94, of Pottsville, died peacefully Tuesday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg. She was born June 23, 1916 in Pottsville daughter of the late Dominic and Mary Desanto Civitarese. She was a graduate of Cass Township High School and was employed by the former Tobias Clothing Store, Pottsville. Mrs. Mazzuca was a member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, both of Pottsville. She enjoyed singing and in her earlier years was actively involved in singing with the church choir and local chorus groups. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Mazzuca, Sr. on January 24, 1979, and a daughter Frances Gardner: 6 brothers, Camilio, Louie, Dominic, Joseph, James and John Civitarese, and a sister, Florence Civitarese. Surviving are a daughter, Ann Marie Ballard and her husband, John, III, Venice, Florida, 2 sons, Joseph Mazzuca, Jr., and his wife Wanda, and Michael Mazzuca and his former wife Georgia, all of Pottsville: 10 grandchildren, James Gardner, and his wife Brenda, Michael Gardner and his wife Carrie Ann, Christopher Gardner and his wife, Joie Lynn, Tony Gardner, John Ballard, IV, Zachary Ballard, Joseph Mazzuca, III, Victor Mazzuca, Marcus Mazzuca and Gina Mazzuca: 7 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Friday from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends may call at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass. The family would prefer remembrances in form of contributions made to St. Patrick Memorial Fund 319 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hillside, Pottsville. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
