Elizabeth A. "Bette" Somers, 89, of Pottsville died Friday at home. She was born January 4, 1921 in Pottsville daughter of the late Leo and Ethel Rodgers Schneider. She was a graduate of Pottsville High School. She was employed by Pollock Furrier, Prudential Insurance, where she was assistant office manger, and later worked for the unemployment office. She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville; St. Patrick Seniors, Pottsville Business and Professional Women, Ladies Auxiliary of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1051, where she served as secretary, and the Soroptomist Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard M. Somers on April 21, 1973. 3 sisters, Mae Barone, Jean Bertsch, and June Derr. Surviving is her daughter Diane E. Sisko and her husband William, Pottsville. A brother Leo Schneider, Hainesport, N.J. 2 grandchildren: William Sisko and his wife April, Enola, Michelle Detwiler and her husband Scott, St. Petersburg, Fl. 6 great-grandchildren, William Sisko, Jr, David Sisko, Brittany and Lianne Page, J.D. and Cheyenne Gelenscer. Nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11:00 A.M. from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M.The family would prefer remembrances in form of contributions made to Pinnacle Health Hospice, 301 One Norwegian Plaza, Pottsville PA, 17901. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.
