Mary T. Ryan, 91, of Orwigsburg died Thursday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Born in St. Clair on March 1, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Nellie Connors Flannery. She was a 1937 graduate of St. Clair High School and attended Penn State University. Before her marriage to Robert E. Ryan on June 24, 1948, she was employed by the Miners National Bank of Pottsville. She later joined the Continuing Education Department at Penn State Schuylkill Campus, where she worked until her retirement in 1982. Mary was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven and the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Ryan on October 14, 2007 and a brother, Leo Flannery. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ellen Setlock and her husband, Jim, Orwigsburg: a granddaughter, Tracy Brala and her husband, Patrick, Villanova: 2 great-grandchildren, Paige and Connor Brala: and a sister, Dorothy McDonald, Raymond, New Hampshire: nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday from St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. The family would prefer remembrances in form of contributions made to the Pottsville Area School District Scholarship Fund, 1501 Laurel Blvd., Pottsville, PA 17901 or St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 201 Randel St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
