Larry H. Ross, 79, of Orwigsburg died Tuesday morning at Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. He was born September 6, 1931 in State College son of the late Fred and Mabel Endres Ross. He was a graduate of State College High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Lock Haven University, Lock Haven and Masters Degree in Education from West Chester University, West Chester. He was a teacher at Blue Mountain Area School District where he established the Wrestling program, retiring in 1984. He also started the Wrestling program at Montoursville High School. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, Hidden Valley Senior Golf League, Second Mountain Gun Club, Pennsylvania Wrestling Hall of Fame, District XI Wrestling Hall of Fame, Blue Mountain Sports Hall of Fame, and Lock Haven Alumni Association. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Alice Moyer, to whom he was married for 57 years: 3 sons, Larry Michael Ross and his wife, Donna, Chambersburg, David Matthew Ross and his wife, Merry, Lebanon, Missouri, and Thomas Robert Ross and his wife, Carla, Waterfall: 2 sisters, Virginia Sunday and Beverly Putt: a brother, Max: 8 grandchildren, Kira Coy and her husband, Bill, Alice Hachtel and her husband, Charles, Kacy Dodge and her husband, Dylan, Tracy, Alyssa, Michael Thomas, Nathan and Samantha Ross: 2 great grandchildren, Elliot Coy and Dayton Dodge: nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday at Noon from the First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven, with Pastor James Fidler officiating. Family and friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17110 or Covenant Home Care, 1510 Highway 61 South, Pottsville, PA. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
