Catherine E. Steidle

Catherine E. "Kitty" Steidle, 92, of Auburn, formerly of Pottsville, died Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson St. Pottsville. She was born May 30, 1918 in East Norwegian Twp daughter of the late William A. and Anna C. Geiselhart Reppy. She was a 1936 graduate of Pottsville High School and was employed as a Notary for many years at the Pottsville AAA. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, were she taught Sunday school and was mother of the children's choir. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Orwigsburg Chapter # 424, Order of the Amaranth Reading Court 61, Pilot Club of Pottsville, P.A.H.S. All Sports Hall of Fame, where she served as secretary and was also a Girl Scout leader for many years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward G. Ash in 1963 and her second husband, Lloyd H. Steidle in 1990: 4 sisters, Anna Wiederhold, Dorothy Robertson, Rose Fetterman, and Frances M. Reppy: 2 brothers, William A. Reppy Jr. and Robert Reppy. Surviving are her son, William Ash and his wife Cheryl, New Tripoli: her daughter, Rev. Kathleen Ash-Flashner, Auburn: 3 stepsons, Lloyd Steidle, Jr. and his wife Judy, Whitehall, James Steidle and his wife Lynn, Pottsville and Robert Steidle and his wife Dolores, San Antonio, TX: 10 grandchildren, Catherine A. Flashner, Matthew E. Flashner, Maj. Ty Steidle, Mike Steidle, Beth Ciavarella, Richard Steidle, Sue Gowdy, Robert Steidle, David and Travis Turney. 9 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. from Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. Darcy M. Reis officiating. Family and friends may call from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening at the church and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services Thursday. Interment will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. The family would prefer remembrances in form of contributions made to Trinity Lutheran Church 300 W. Arch St. Pottsville PA, 17901. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
