Irene F. Ney

Irene F. Ney, 95, of Pottsville died Saturday at Golden Living Center-York Terrace, Pottsville. She was born May 6, 1914 in Smyrna, Michigan daughter of the late Frank and Hattie Wheaton Showers. She was educated in the Pottsville Schools and was a housewife the majority of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester R. Ney in 1977, a grandson, Christopher Ney: 2 sisters, Marguarite C. Scanlon and Marie Ney: 2 brothers, Anson and Charles Showers. Surviving are a son, Chester Ney: 5 grandchildren: 5 great grandchildren: a sister, Beatrice Rippey, Lock Haven: nieces and nephews among them her caregiver, Bea Engleman, and her husband, Bob, Pottsville. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville with Pastor James Fidler officiating. Family and friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to Golden Living Center-York Terrace Activities Fund, 2401 W. Market St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
