On Sunday, July 19, Edna Mae McKenzie, 81, of Pottsville went home to be with the Lord at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Maryland, while vacationing with her daughter and family. Edna died doing what she loved best, having fun with her family, whom she loved dearly. She spent many warm summer days on her back deck and was everyone's nanny and a friend to all she met. Edna was born August 24, 1927 in Valley Furnace, New Philadelphia area, daughter of the late William and Mary Elizabeth Price Murray. She was a graduate of Blythe Twp. High School and worked for the Valent Family at the former Angela Sportswear Co. for many years. Edna was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Pottsville, where she taught Sunday School for more than 40 years. In her spare time she was Minority Inspector of Elections in the 3rd Ward, 1st Precinct and active in Girl Scouting. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angel Anne Huffman in 1996 and was one of 12 children. She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Irvin A. McKenzie: 3 loving daughters, Cheryl Ann McKenzie Fidler and her husband, Robert, Williamsport, Karen Lou Maurer and her husband, Eric, Lewistown Valley, and Kimberly Ann Huffman and her husband, Charles, Pottsville: 6 granddaughters, Erica, Amanda, Stephanie, Adrienne, Kristi, and Bethany: 3 grandsons, Tommy, Brett and Joel: 2 step grandchildren, Jacob and Phaedra: 6 great grandchildren: a brother, Eddie Murray, Kaska, and 2 sisters in law, Carolyn (Tootsie) Murray, Kaska and Isabel Murray, New Philadelphia. Nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. from the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Pottsville, with Rev. Bonnie L. Yeager officiating. Family and friends may call at the church from 9:00 A.M. till the time of service. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 305 S. Centre St., Pottsville, PA 17901.Interment will be at the convenience of the family. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
