Edward W. "Cy" Hoke, 81, of Pottsville died Sunday at home. He was born in Pottsville on November 8, 1926 son of the late Carl and Elizabeth Moran Hoke. He attended St. John the Baptist School. He was co-owner of the former Glenworth Coal Company, Pottsville, prior to retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville and a Life Member of the Yorkville Hose Co., Pottsville. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Rose Bondura in November of 1998. Surviving are two sons: Edward C. Hoke and his wife Susan, Marlin and Joseph G. Hoke and his wife Brenda, Pottsville: a daughter, Lisa McDonald, Orlando, Florida: Eight grandchildren: Erika, Matthew, Alyssa, Crystyn, Jeremy, Christian Marlo, and Julia Rose: a close friend, Joseph Liptok, and a godson Anthony Liptok. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. till the time of Mass. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to St. Patrick Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
