Barry L. Zimmerman

Barry L. Zimmerman, 81 of Cressona, died peacefully Wednesday March 26, 2025, at home.

He was born March 3, 1944, in Cressona a son of the late Charles E., Sr. and Helen Moyer Zimmerman Buber.

He was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School.

Barry served his country honorably as a veteran of the Army during the Vietnam War.

Prior to retiring he worked for the U.S. Postal Service, as a letter carrier in Ashland.

Barry was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Cressona; Stanley Dengler American Legion, Post #286, Cressona; Cressona Fire Company No. 1; and North Ward Social Club, Schuylkill Haven.

Barry was an avid fan of all Philadelphia sports teams. He loved doing crossword and soduku puzzles. He also had a creative spirit and enjoyed playing the guitar, notably singing his favorite song, "House of the Rising Sun" by the Animals.

Barry was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles E. Zimmerman, Jr. and Clair Zimmerman, as well as a sister, Barbara Saunders.

He is survived by a niece and nephew, Tammy and Todd Saunders, who were his caregivers, along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins

Funeral services will be held 11AM, Wednesday April 2, 2025, at the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9AM until the time of services. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven

The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Barry be made to Cressona Fire Company, No. 1, 59 S. 2nd St. Cressona, PA 17929
