Daryl Anne Holley, 80, of Schuylkill Haven, died Monday surrounded by her family at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill, East Norwegian St. Pottsville.
She was born February 9, 1942 in Coaldale a daughter of the late Howard W. and Mildred Klingaman Donald.
She was a 1959 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and attended the former Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing.
She worked at the former Jackson St. School and the Schuylkill IU prior to retiring.
Daryl was a member of the Torry Club, Ladies Committee of the Pennsylvania Water Works, Ladies Committee of the Pennsylvania Municipal Authority Association, Pottsville Football Mothers Booster, the former Pottsville Area PTA and was a Gold Star Mother and Sister. She was also avid bowler and was her children's and grandchildren's biggest supporter both academically and athletically.
She was preceded in death by her son, Capt. David J. Holley, Jr. USMC; a daughter, Dana Tucker; a brother, CPL Howard A. Donald, USMC.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years David J. Holley, Sr.; 2 daughters, Donna Mates, Pottsville; Dee Curry and her husband Ken, Schuylkill Haven; a son, Doug Holley and his wife Nadine; 9 grandchildren David J. Holley, III, Corene Parrish, Devon Mates, Holley Pothering, Amanda Parrish, Danyelle Mates, Daulton Mates, Owen & Brett Holley, 5 great-grandchildren, Emilia, Elias & Everett Pothering, Dylan and Derek Myers; a sister, Debra Baddick, Tamaqua; a son-in-law, William Tucker, Potomac Falls, VA; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing Friday evening from 5-7PM and Saturday morning from 9:30AM until 10:45AM at the church. There will be no viewings from funeral home. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Daryl be made to Capt. David J. Holley Scholarship Fund, C/O Howard S. Fernsler Academic Center 1501 Laurel Blvd, Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.
Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
