Dr. William G. Kupchinsky

 Dr. William G. Kupchinsky, DC, of Pottsville, passed away on Tuesday, April 16^th, in hospice care at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon.  He was 99 years old.

 Born at home in Minersville in 1924, he was the son of the late Lillian (Gobitas) and George Kupchinsky.  He attended St. Francis of Assisi parochial schools and graduated from Minersville High School class of 1943.  After attending Temple and Georgetown Universities, he graduated from Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, class of 1949.

He served in the Army during the Korean War, where he was in charge of the 155^th Station Hospital Annex in Yokohama, Japan.  After discharge he set up his Chiropractic practice in Lansdale before returning home to Schuylkill County and opening an office In Pottsville where he practiced until his retirement.

He enjoyed following (and complaining about) Philadelphia sports, doing crossword puzzles, driving to regional malls on weekends, and walking.  He was often seen walking around the streets of Pottsville and the Fairlane Village Mall.  He was proud of his ability to remain independent and was still driving and living alone up until a few weeks before his passing.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58-years Joan (Perrott) and a sister, Dr. Claudia A. Kotula.  He is survived by a son, Scott (spouse Beth), three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
  
Visitation will be held at the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home at 1112 W. Market St, Pottsville, on Saturday, April 27^th from 10:30 to 11:30am, followed by a private interment at Mount Peace Cemetery, Minersville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, online at alz.org.
