Elaine M. Grapsy, 60 of Schuylkill Haven, died Thursday at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia surrounded by her family.
She was born February 22, 1963, in Scranton a daughter of the late Max E. and Marilyn Garvey Golod.
She was a 1981 graduate of Nativity BVM High School and a 1985 graduate of Marywood University.
She was bank manager at the former Miners Bank prior to having and raising her two children, whom she adored. She later worked alongside her husband at his family’s business. A great deal of her last years were selflessly spent serving as caretaker for her late mother.
Elaine was a member of the St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.
Elaine always put her family first above all else - including herself. She was known for passionately (and vocally) supporting her children in everything they did: every game and every phase of life. She enjoyed weekend beach trips with her husband, trying new recipes, tending to her gardens, and never missed a Eagles or Sixers game. Elaine was the epitome of unconditional love in all she was - a daughter, wife, and mother — and her love will endure for the rest of her family’s lives.
Surviving are her husband Mark Grapsy, with whom she would have celebrated 35 years of marriage with on May 7th; a daughter, Jillian Grapsy, Dallas, TX: a son Shane Grapsy, Philadelphia; her Havanese dog, Jax; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11AM from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, with Rev. Kevin J. Bobbin as celebrant. Viewings will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8PM at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, and Wednesday morning from 10AM until the time of mass at St. John. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Elaine be made to St. John Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901.
