Gene O. Ebling

Gene O. Ebling 86, of Orwigsburg, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born August 10, 1938, in Mount Carbon, a son of the late Elmer J. and Anna Scholl Ebling.

He was a 1957 graduate of Blue Mountain High School. 

Prior to retiring in 2006 he was employed by the Schuylkill Municipal Authority. He also assisted his brother Ted in the funeral business for 25 years at Ebling Funeral Home, Cressona. Most recently Gene was a funeral attendant at the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville for the past 18 years. 

Gene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville; a life member of Mount Carbon Fire Co; Pulaski Lodge 216F&AM, Pottsville; Tall Cedars of Lebanon.

He was preceded by his first wife Janet Stoudt Ebling; an infant son; a daughter Gretchen Ebling; 5 brothers, Charles, Edward, James, Sam, Ted, and Robert Ebling; 2 sisters, Ruth Lapp, Ada Miller.

Surviving are his wife Margaret “Peggy” Prokop Ebling; a son, Christian Ebling, and his companion Molly Kleeman, Pottsville; 3 daughters, Erika Ebling, Ingrid Androshick both of Pottsville; Kristian Marcinowski, and her husband Daniel, Ashland; 2 stepsons, Richard Hallick, and his companion Christina Treese, Kulpmont; Brian Hallick and his wife Mary Ella, Orwigsburg; grandchildren, Matthew, Janna, Ethan, Zachary, Bradley, Meghan, Kimberly, Jared, Kristina; 7-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Fehr, Pottsville; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held 11AM Tuesday from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, with Rev. Chris Rothharpt officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6-8PM Monday and from 10AM until the time of services. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Gene be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W.
