"Zero" James Joseph Davidson, 84 of Pottsville, died Sunday April 16th at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East from injuries sustained in an accident.
James was born October 14, 1938 in Langley VA, a son of the late Col. Joseph J. Davidson and Eleanor "Muti" Muldoon Davidson.
He was a member of the inaugural graduating class of Nativity BVM High School 1955 and went on to complete his bachelor's degree at the University of Mississippi in 1967.
Prior to retiring in 1999, James worked in Schuylkill County's Demolitions Office.
Zero, as his friends called him, was a man with passion for life and insatiable curiosity. He truly loved the feel of the wind in his hair, and the sound of a motor roaring beneath him. Throughout his life he was an avid motorcycle rider and mechanic, and loved to restore and drive antique military vehicles until the very end of his time. He was an active member in the local chapter of Military Vehicle Preservation Association, and travelled to meetings of the organization across the USA. He enjoyed time spent with his many friends from town and all across the country, and was always quick to come to the aid of those who needed it.
Zero was also a member of Saint Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving James are his wife Carol Wagner Davidson, 2 daughters, Paisley Davidson of New York, NY, Mollie Davidson and her Fiancee Jay Morgans of Kingston, PA, 2 sons, Phillip Davidson and his wife Tatiana Pozdniyakova of Pottsville PA, Joseph Davidson and his fiance Daniella Garcia of Pottsville, and granddaughter Maria Davidson. James is also survived by two sisters, Eleanor Boyle of Doylestown, PA and Joanne Davidson of New York, NY, nephews Kevin Boyle, Jay Boyle and his wife Golan, and Tim Boyle, and niece Kerry Sturza and her husband Craig. James is also survived by his many, many dear friends.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 7PM Friday April 28 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 5PM until the time of mass. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Zero be made to Pottsville Free Public Library, 215 W. Market St. Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be private at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
