Karen Nadine Naffin McHugh, 72 of Pottsville died peacefully Friday surrounded by her family at Geisinger-St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg.

She was born March 12, 1952 in Pottsville a daughter of the late Richard and Geneva Schwenk Naffin.

She was a 1970 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School and a graduate of Reading Business School.

Karen worked for a short time at Catholic Social Services, before raising her two daughters.

Karen was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Pottsville, Pottsville Jayceet's, and was active with the Girl Scouts.

Throughout her life Karen enjoyed reading books and the beach. She also loved all of her husband's guide dog he had throughout their marriage.

Karen is survived by her husband Lenny McHugh with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage with on May 25th; 2 daughters, Kelly McHugh, Pottsville; Susan Rennick and her husband Michael, St. Clair; a granddaughter, Serena Gauker; 2 brothers, Kent Naffin, Boston, MA and Keith Naffin and his wife Margaret, Schuylkill Haven; a sister-in-law, Jackie Naffin, Boston, MA; nieces and nephews.

Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday at 11AM from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30AM until the time of service. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Karen be made to Freedom Guide Dog, 1210 Hardscrabble Rd., Crossville, NY 13318 or the Pottsville Free Public Library, 217 W. Market St. Pottsville, PA 17901.
