Leo J. Salle, Sr., 91 of Pottsville, died Saturday night at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East.
He was born June 19, 1927 in Pottsville a son of the late Jerome and Laura Baun Salle.
He was a 1945 graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School and Ford School of Business with a degree in Business Administration.
He served in the Army during World War II.
When he was a young boy he delivered newspaper for the Pottsville Republican for many years in the Bunker Hill Area.
Prior to retiring. He was employed by Kelly Electric for 23 years and the Pottsville Housing Authority for 22 years where he was their first project manager.
Leo was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, Walter Griffiths AMVETS Post 125 where he was a past Commander, Eastern AMVETS where he was a past Commander; a Pottsville Democratic Committee Man for the Third Ward 1st Precinct for many years and was a life member of Good Intent Fire Co, Pottsville where he joined in 1952 and was Financial Secretary from 1966-1992.
He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Joseph and Robert Salle; 2 stepsons, Rick and John Weiss. Surviving are his wife Mildred Saylor Salle; children, Debbie Kubeika and her husband Edward, Barbara Petlansky and her husband Robert; Leo J. Salle, Jr.,; Kathy Vernay; Stephen Weiss, all of Pottsville; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11AM for St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6-8PM Thursday and 9:30-10:30AM Friday at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Interment with military honors will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.
