Samuel Atanasio, Sr. 90 a 23-year resident of New Ringgold, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, died Thursday, Oct 19th at Geisinger St. Lukes Hospital, Orwigsburg. He was born March 24, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY a son of the late Alberto and Eusebia Ruiz Atanasio. He was a navy veteran having served during the Korean War. He was employed by Mount Sinai Hospital, New York prior to retiring. Sam was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church, Cressona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Francis Ortiz Atanasio; a sister, Marie Atanasio. Surviving are a son Samuel Atanasio, Jr.; a daughter, Eunice Atanasio; 3 grandchildren, Laila Lane, Lorenzo, and Lillyanna Celstino; 2 brothers, Israel and Daniel Atanasio; nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held 10:30AM, Monday, Nov 6th, at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. A viewing will be held from 9:30AM until the time of services. Interment with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
