Shirley J. Harkins, 89 of St. Clair, died Saturday evening at Geisinger-St. Lukes Hospital, Orwigsburg, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 5, 1932 in Frackville a daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie Schumber Hoffman.
She was a graduate of Frackville High School.
She worked at the former Woolworths in Pottsville for over 30 years.
Shirley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville where she was a member of Over 50, Circle 5 and the Ding-A-Ling Bell Choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Harkins, Sr., in 1975 with whom she was married to for 22 years; a grandson, Jeremi Harkins; 4 sisters, Viola Ballentine, Edna Ruping, Lois Widdoes and Larve Murphy; 2 brothers, William and George Hoffman.
Surviving are her children, Sandra Fessler, McAdoo; Jospeh Harkins, Jr., and his wife Debbie, Schuylkill Haven; Lynn Harkins, El Paso, TX; Pamela Panchari and her husband Robert, Pottsville; 9 grandchildren, Brad Fessler, Minersville, Mark Fessler, Gordon, Jamie Harkins, St. Clair, Joseph Harkins, III, Pottsville, Joshua Harkins, Pottsville, Timothy Marzullo Seoul, S. Korea, Eileen Marzullo, Golden Valley, MN, Skyler Panchari, Pottsville and Breanna Panchari, Pottsville; many great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Catherine Hoffman, Pottsville; nieces and nephews.
Service of Remembrance will be held Monday at Noon from Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, with Rev. Chris Rothharpt officiating. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 11AM until the time of services. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Shirley be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W. Arch St., Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be made in Trinity Memorial Garden on the grounds of the church.
Arrangements are under the care of James B. Humphrey, Funeral Director, James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
