Thomas J. “Whitey” Heenan, Sr., 87 of Pottsville, died peacefully Saturday evening at home.
He was born Jun 19, 1934 in Pottsville, a son of the late Francis M. and Bernice D. Olinsky Heenan
He attended St. Clair High School, St. Clair.
He was an Army Veteran having served during the Korean War.
He was employed by PennDot for 7 years and was a carpenter for 27 years prior to retiring.
Tom was a devote member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Phoenix Hook and Ladder, St. Clair, and Ancient Order of Hibernians JFK Division #2.
Tom was known as a man of principle with a gift for storytelling and having a good sense of humor. He was compelled to live in the “fast lane”, and anyone who ever rode in his vehicle would understand this!
Surviving are his wife with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage with on January 27, MaryAnn Markovich Heenan; his children, Catherine Ballat and her husband Paul, Lock Haven; Colleen Bowers and her husband Jerry, Pottsville; Maureen Hribick and her husband Stephen, Bethlehem; Thomas J. Heenan, Jr, and his wife Michelle, Pottsville; Patricia Seiders and her husband Jeremy, Pottsville; Eileen Welser and her husband William, Austin TX; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Catherine Kelly, Shillington; Beatrice Heenan, St. Clair; Dolores Brady, St. Clair; Francis Strausser, St. Clair; Nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11AM from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9AM until the time of mass. The family would prefer remembrances in memory of Tom be made to St. Patrick Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. Casimir Cemetery, Port Carbon. Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
