Virginia R. Carter

Virginia R. Carter, 86, of Pottsville formerly of Long Island, NY, died peacefully Monday while in the care of her granddaughter, Paula Ann and great-grandson Michael.

She was born August 5, 1936 in Long Island City, NY a daughter of the late Thomas M. and Almyra Stewart Barrett.

Virginia was of Catholic faith.

Virginia was known as loving woman to her entire family and never had a bad word to say about anyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Carter; a sister, Ethel Timmermann

Surviving are her children, Paula Smith, Pottsville; Debra Boncore, Pottsville; Elizabeth Puckli, Long Island, NY; Anthony Evangelista; Long Island; Thomas Evangelista, Port Jefferson, NY; Dennis Evangelista, Minersville; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers, George Barrett, Brooklyn, NY; Michael Barrett, Fl; nieces and nephews.

Prayer service will be held 11AM Saturday at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 10AM until the time of services. The family would prefer remembrances to help defray some funeral expenses be made to Humphrey Funeral Home, 1112 W.
